A choreography by Lucas Valente (world premiere) Human and machine merge in Leonardo da Vinci's technical fantasies into new entities with unprecedented possibilities. Choreographer Lucas Valente creates an evening about the Renaissance artist and his quest to empower the human body to achieve superhuman feats. With the fundamental principle of his combination of gears, we ride bicycles or lift heavy loads today. Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) was not only a painter and sculptor but also an inventor and a true tech enthusiast. He is considered the father of bionics, the science of technically replicating and utilizing observations from nature. Teaching humans to fly was one of his greatest dreams. His designs for wings or rotary mechanisms did not fail due to the idea or understanding of their function, but simply due to the materials available in the 15th century. The time was not yet ripe...
