In 2025, the Lausitz Art Collection received a substantial donation of 20 works by the "Schraden painter" Walter Besig. These were handed over to the collection by the artist's descendants from private ownership. Among them are primarily landscapes from the Lausitz region, but also works from Besig's stays in the Giant Mountains, as well as still lifes and a portrait. This extensive donation enhances the existing collection of the artist's works and is now on display for the first time in an exhibition. Walter Besig, who is primarily known as a landscape painter, had strong ties to the community of Lindenau, where he lived until his death in 1950 and where his final resting place is also located.
