In everyday objects that we use daily, optics and aesthetics usually play a subordinate role. What matters most is functionality and purpose. Just 100 years ago, ceramic vessels were among the most important everyday items in rural households. They were used to transport beverages like beer and wine and to store food items like vinegar and oil. Large garden pots could be used to preserve food, and with ceramic baking and pudding molds, the farmers' wives created delicious dishes with beautiful designs. Despite the simplicity of the individual vessels, the collection showcases a variety of shapes and designs of ceramic everyday objects. The exhibition is complemented by artistically decorated Sorbian Easter eggs and Easter pastries from around the world.
