Tracing Light - The Magic of Light

Leading scientists and artists, each encountering light in their own way, working with it, and researching it, come together to make the indescribable tangible from scientific, philosophical, and artistic perspectives. One of the protagonists in the film is British artist Julie Brook, who captures sunlight with stone huts in the barren expanses of the Outer Hebrides or lets fire sink into the sea. The duo Semiconductor makes photons visible in Glasgow with laser cameras and melts glass plates. Johannes Brunner and Raimund Ritz design a large sphere, half illuminated by thick matte black paint, for the white staircase rising under a huge skylight in the newly constructed MPI building.
