Since 1980, the "Plattdeutsche Heimatabende" in Hünxe have been presenting a diverse program that keeps the Low German culture alive. In collaboration with customs and dance groups, as well as students from the local primary schools and the youth choir "Ars Cantandi," singing, dancing, sketches, and lectures are offered. The performances are not exclusively in Low German dialect. During the break, a traditional Lower Rhine stew with sausage is served. This event provides an excellent opportunity to experience the regional culture and language in an authentic atmosphere.
