As part of the "Healthy & Happy" EXPERIENCE PROGRAM, Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Muschter will give a lecture in the Wandelhalle in Bad Pyrmont on the topic: A man's weak gender – the prostate from A to Z; Part 1: Examination and Diagnosis: PSA and Urologist. Throughout life, the prostate performs its role in reproduction quietly and unnoticed. In youth and middle age, prostate diseases are rare. However, when they do occur, they can be severe, either as an acute inflammation with pain and high fever or as a chronic condition that is persistent and long-lasting. Due to the extensive nature of the topic, the lecture has been divided into two parts, which can also be attended separately and are coherent on their own.

Examination and Diagnosis: PSA and Urologist
The first part explains the diseases of the prostate along with their symptoms and familiarizes the audience with both traditional and modern examinations that "threaten" to be performed during a preventive visit to the doctor or urologist, in order to differentiate between prostate diseases and to recognize prostate cancer and its individual risk. The significance of modern diagnostics using MRI and PSMA-PET/CT will be presented. Important technical terms, such as "Gleason" and "PRIADS," will be explained. In particular, the topic of "PSA" will be discussed in detail, including all arguments for and against it, as well as the concepts of "overdiagnosis" and "overtreatment," including unnecessary surgeries. A comprehensive explanation will be provided on who should be treated and why, as well as who does not need treatment and why monitoring is often sufficient. Following the lecture, all questions from the audience will, of course, be answered. However, please understand that a public lecture cannot provide individual medical advice or a second opinion.
