This exhibition showcases unusual everyday items made of wood: bread shovels and water pipes, zithers and tent tops, half-timbered structures, shoe lasts, porcelain, or forest maps… revealing surprising connections. For those who enjoy hands-on activities, there is a xylotheque to browse, wooden overshoes to try on, plug connections to tinker with, or the opportunity to create your own herbarium. A small art exhibition also presents the works of young woodcarvers who modernly interpret an old craft and provide insights into the carving technique.

Further information: The special exhibition can be viewed at the Upper Harz Mining Museum from August 31, 2025, to February 15, 2026, during opening hours. Admission to the special exhibition is already included in the museum ticket. This is a traveling exhibition by the Landscape Association of Southern Lower Saxony e.V.
