We are in the year 1845. The wealthy couple Hocke from Berlin, dressed in their finest attire, has set out for Lübbenau. They plan to meet the poet Theodor Fontane there. Heinrich Hocke, a somewhat naive and absent-minded historian, has learned that some of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales may have their origins in the Spreewald. He wants to investigate this phenomenon with Mr. Fontane's help. If necessary, he would even venture into the "wilderness" between the legendary waterways. His elegant wife, Wilhelmine Arnold Hocke, loves fairy tales and enjoys telling and singing them.
