Ranger Tour: Bird Language - Understanding the Messages of Birds

Concert Spring. It is spring, and the bird population is in full swing. But why do birds actually sing? What are they calling out? When do they take flight, or sit completely still and motionless in the tree? Their songs and calls, their behaviors, and their body language form a sophisticated communication system. This system is not only used by the birds themselves but also by other animals in the vicinity. When we learn to understand bird language, we discover animals we might not have seen before: the kite in the sky, the sparrowhawk racing through the thicket, or the sneaking fox. Together with ranger Mirjam Rederlechner, we playfully approach the language of the feathered ones and try out different methods to recognize and interpret the sounds and behaviors of the birds.
