Traveling in the Monastery: The Grand Tour through the Pyrenees

On foot from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean: about 850 km, over 45,000 meters of elevation gain, sun, rain, hail, storms, cold, heat, mountains, wild paths, and a few adventures are some key details of the great crossing of the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean – GR11 - Transpirenaica. For Marlis and me, it was to be a new experience. Together, we ventured into the solitude of the wild Pyrenees. We set off indefinitely on the long-distance hiking trail, starting from Cap de Higuer at the Atlantic, through the high mountain landscapes in northern Spain, across the small principality of Andorra, heading east towards Cap de Creus at the Mediterranean. The expedition turned into an adventure experience with everything such a tour can offer. Steep mountain paths, breathtaking untouched landscapes, lonely, romantic mountain villages, roaring waterfalls, and mountain streams delighted the senses.
