Exhibition duration until April 19, 2026 Franz von Gaudy (April 19, 1800 in Frankfurt (Oder); + February 5, 1840 in Berlin) was a famous literary son of the city and simultaneously the "number 2" after Heinrich von Kleist. Gaudy's birthplace at Oderstraße 13 was called "Zum rothen Polacken," which he himself alludes to in "Mein Römerzug" during his first trip to Italy in 1836: during a passport control, "I wisely concealed that I first saw the light of day in the house called 'zum rothen Polacken,' so as not to raise suspicion that I had absorbed the spirit of revolution with my mother's milk." Idea and curator: Dr. Doris Fouquet-Plümacher, Berlin Further information: http://www.museum-viadrina.de
