Gardener's happiness and enjoyment - seed potatoes, seeds, early bloomers, vegan brunch

On Sunday, March 15th, Storkow Castle will transform into a meeting point for everyone who is passionate about good food, sustainable gardening culture, and the diversity of nature, starting at 11 AM. On this special day, there are two events on the program that harmonize perfectly: the open "vegan potluck brunch" and "Gardener's Happiness and Enjoyment" (formerly the seed and potato exchange). Starting at 11 AM, the visitor center of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park will offer a carefully selected range of seeds and seed potatoes, early bloomers, culinary herbs, and perennials for sale in the castle courtyard, which thrive particularly well in the "Märkischer Sand." The 25 potato varieties offered, from Blauer Schwede to Linda to Rote Emmalie, also deliver in terms of taste. In addition to the sale, "Happy Landscape" will provide advice on sowing, variety selection, and plant care. A team from "Nature in the Garden" will also be present with many valuable tips for nature-friendly gardening to harvest healthy plants and fruits while providing habitats for many beneficial animals. With this offering, the visitor center aims to promote biodiversity and variety in private gardens. Together with the association for the preservation and recultivation of crops, the goal is to preserve the diversity of our cultivated plants. In the last century, over 75% of our cultivated plants have been lost, which also means a loss of genetic diversity. The old varieties are also associated with traditional knowledge about their special properties for cultivation, use, and processing, as well as knowledge about seed production. Interested gardening enthusiasts can obtain information and guidance in the seminars offered by the visitor center. Admission is free.

Notes on the vegan brunch: Starting at 11 AM, the Storkow Nutrition Council and the Storkow Castle team invite all interested parties to a vegan potluck brunch in the large hall. Guests will have the opportunity to taste numerous plant-based dishes prepared and brought by the participants themselves. Those who do not have time to contribute something can still stop by for a small donation and be surprised by the variety of vegan cuisine.
