Eric Fish & Friends – "Shallows"

The new album by Eric Fish and his friends, Gerit Hecht on piano, Rainer Michalek on vocals/guitar, and Friedemann Mäthger on drums, promises nothing more and nothing less than a ruthless examination of the societal situation we must navigate in these times. In a traditional, musically minimalist singer-songwriter style, the human being is viewed within the context of their shaping social, political, and personal environment. The songs express a fundamentally humanistic and pacifist approach... Thus, a certain spirit of renewal spreads, taking the listener by the hand and guiding them around the pitfalls of life. Overall, the songs come across as rockier and more rhythmically emphasized. However, the romantic acoustic guitar parts familiar from Eric Fish's work are also well represented.
