Mr. Lehmann

Berlin-Kreuzberg, 1989: Frank Lehmann, known to his friends as "Mr. Lehmann," is just about to turn 30 and leads a seemingly tranquil life as a bartender. He spends his nights behind the bar, where he serves not only drinks but also his everyday poetic thoughts to the guests. However, the calm is deceptive: his parents unexpectedly announce their visit, his friend Karl falls into a crisis while preparing for his first art exhibition, and an unexpected trip to the eastern part of the city ends with an interrogation by the East German border troops. When the Wall finally falls, Mr. Lehmann's world is turned upside down for good. Based on the cult novel by Sven Regener, which captures the atmosphere of Berlin's nightlife in the late 80s, the production at the Stadthalle Olpe presents a humorous and profound exploration of a time of upheaval. A theatrical experience that transports the audience to a bygone era while simultaneously raising timeless questions about identity and change.
