Summer holiday games: In the footsteps of traders – From the Hellweg to the great trade routes of the world! (in the Westphalian Salt Worlds)

During the summer holidays, the Westphalian Salt Worlds offer a diverse program for children aged 6 to 12. Under the title "In the Footsteps of Merchants – From the Hellweg to the Great Trade Routes of the World!", young participants will immerse themselves in the historical world of trade. They will explore the significance of the Hellweg as one of the oldest and most important trade routes in Germany and learn how merchants once transported salt, spices, and textiles. Additionally, other famous trade routes such as the Silk Road will be highlighted to illustrate the global interconnectedness of trade. Through creative games and experiments, children will experience how trade functioned in the past and what parallels exist with today. This program not only imparts historical knowledge but also fosters an understanding of economic connections and cultural exchange.
