The sunrise hike along the southern route of the Monastery Path offers a unique opportunity to connect the spiritual atmosphere of the Bestwig mountain monastery with the impressive nature of the Sauerland region. The route leads from the Bestwig mountain monastery over the Ostenberg to Wehrstapel and ends at the Abbey of Königsmünster in Meschede. Along the way, there are sections with narrow paths, so sturdy footwear is required. Flashlights may be useful for the first part, as it can still be dim at the beginning. It is recommended to bring your own food and sufficient drinks. There are return options to Bestwig from Meschede using public transport. Registration is not required.
