amarcord: Concert in Memory of Paul Gerhardt

In the 350th year since his death, the five singers of amarcord approach the man Paul Gerhardt through the lens of music. As former Thomaner boys, familiar with Gerhardt's chorales from a young age, the singers paint an atmospheric picture of a time filled with faith, suffering from war, and joy of life – paying tribute to a man who remains relevant and alive through his work to this day. Featuring works by contemporaries such as Heinrich Schütz, Johann Hermann Schein, and Johann Michael Bach, as well as the Protestant forefathers Martin Luther and Johann Walter, alongside Josquin des Prez and composers of our time: Bernd Franke, Ivan Moody, Robert Pohlers, and of course Johann Sebastian Bach. The vocal ensemble amarcord was founded in 1992 by members of the Leipzig Thomanerchor. Today, amarcord, with Wolfram Lattke, Robert Pohlers, Frank Ozimek, Daniel Knauft, and Holger Krause, is a well-established name in the world of vocal ensembles.
