Martin Weise (1605–1693) was born in 1605 as the son of a councilor from Lübben. He studied medicine and became the court physician of the Great Elector Frederick William. He was a friend and contemporary of Paul Gerhardt and became the godfather of his daughter. The lecture by the Germanist Sabine Schlegelmilch traces the connections between the two friends and their life stations between Lübben and Berlin.
