THE THINGS is the title of the autumn exhibition 2025 at the Museum and Glass Studio Baruther Glashütte. Astrid Germo and Karsten Wittke will present nearly 50 paintings created as reverse glass paintings until March 2026. Germo and Wittke succeed in making THE THINGS speak for themselves. Everyday objects and phenomena, often overlooked in daily life, become visible in their true essence through Germo's and Wittke's representation in acrylic or lacquer colors behind glass. The familiar transforms into a work of art, becomes a monument. The Museum Baruther Glashütte is pleased to present reverse glass paintings for the first time. The panel as a painting surface is part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity "Manual Glassmaking" due to its handcrafted production using the cylinder method. The use of glass panels as a painting surface underscores the significance of mouth-blown flat glass as a result of a craft tradition worthy of protection. The works can be pre-reserved or purchased.
