Through plein airs and work in public spaces, the sculptor, painter, and draftsman living in Marxdorf (Märkisch-Oderland district) has long made a name for himself. As someone who was born in Spreenhagen, the artist enjoys speaking about an area where the oldest landfill in Berlin once lay – even though this very place has become an inspiring source for him. What the ground there holds in stone, wood, and metal is something Ehrhard Thoms aims to revive – subtly and with a light touch. This "unfinished" beauty gives his sculptures, stone and wood sculptures, drawings, prints, and collages a distinctive expression.
