The shooting festival in Fleckenberg, organized by the St. Johannes Shooting Brotherhood 1857 e.V., is a prominent event in the cultural calendar of the Hochsauerlandkreis. This traditional festival combines historical customs with contemporary celebration culture and attracts numerous visitors each year. A central element of the festival is the bird shooting competition, where the title of shooting king is contested. In 2025, Martin Stöwer succeeded in defeating the eagle with the 165th shot, thus crowning himself as shooting king. Eckhard Gamm secured the title of vice shooting king with the 184th shot. These exciting competitions are accompanied by festive ceremonies, including the Grand Tattoo and the ceremonial entrance of the new majesties into the decorated shooting hall. The musical accompaniment by local music associations and drum corps adds a special atmosphere to the festival. Additionally, dance evenings and a varied supporting program enrich the event. The shooting hall in Fleckenberg provides the ideal setting for this and is flexible for various event formats. Thus, the shooting festival in Fleckenberg is a vibrant testament to regional traditions and offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves deeply in the culture of the Sauerland.
