Mountain Parade in Torchlight

Mining traditions come alive during the mountain parade on the second Advent weekend in Freiberg. In the glow of torches, miners and smelters march majestically in their splendid uniforms through the historic old town to pay their respects at the castle square (5:15 PM). They are musically accompanied by the Bergmusikkorps Saxonia Freiberg. The procession continues along Burgstraße to the Upper Market (6 PM) and then to the mountain service at St. Peter's Church (6:30 PM). The youth brass band from Bernsdorf will perform mining brass music at the Christmas market around 7 PM. The route, the best viewing spots, and safety information are available online on a map. The Freiberg Christmas market is considered one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany. Until December 22, Erzgebirge traditions come to life here.
