Special exhibition "You also belong to the Führer"!?

The special exhibition "You Belong to the Führer Too!?" at Vogelsang IP sheds light on the realities of life for children and adolescents in the region around Monschau, Schleiden, and Euskirchen during the years 1918 to 1945. Through numerous documents, images, and objects, it examines how the everyday lives of young people changed compared to the Weimar Republic, the role of Nazi ideology in school education, and the influence of organizations such as the Hitler Youth and the League of German Girls on the lives of youth. The exhibition also addresses whether membership in these organizations was perceived as an attractive leisure activity or a burdensome obligation, and highlights the exclusion of certain groups as well as the involvement of children and adolescents in World War II. This in-depth engagement with the history of the region offers visitors valuable insights into the mechanisms of Nazi education and its effects on youth.
