The lautten compagney BERLIN presents "Time Travel," a fascinating musical journey that weaves together works by Henry Purcell and the Beatles. Henry Purcell, known as "Orpheus Britannicus," shaped English Baroque music in the 17th century with catchy melodies and rhythmic sophistication. The Beatles revolutionized 20th-century pop culture starting in 1962 with their unique sound. The saxophone, patented by Adolphe Sax in 1846, has established itself in both jazz and pop music, showcasing its versatility in this program. Under the direction of Wolfgang Katschner, the lautten compagney combines historical instruments with modern sounds, transcending stylistic boundaries. For the first time, the ensemble collaborates with the renowned saxophonist Asya Fateyeva, regarded as an outstanding artist in the classical scene. Together, they create a new auditory experience, presenting the music of Purcell and the Beatles in an innovative context. Founded in 1984 by Hans-Werner Apel and Wolfgang Katschner, the lautten compagney BERLIN is one of the leading ensembles for early music. Their distinctive sound and stylistic versatility were once again recognized in 2025 with the Opus Klassik award as "Ensemble of the Year." Performers: - Asya Fateyeva (saxophone) - lautten compagney BERLIN - Ensemble: 2 violins, viola, cello, double bass, flute, sackbut, harpsichord/organ, harp, percussion - Conductor: Wolfgang Katschner
