"Living World Heritage – Experience Tour in the UNESCO World Heritage Beech Forest Grumsin"

The hike begins in the idyllic village of Altkünkendorf, at the listed fieldstone church. Soon we reach the forest. Sometimes through deep gorges, sometimes along a ridge, the path leads along the core zone boundary of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The deeper we wander into the forest, the more pronounced the glacial relief landscape becomes, and the more the magic of the mighty, ancient beech trees unfolds. How small humans are! Particularly fascinating: we get to experience how a forest, when left to its own devices, regains its natural dynamics and the wilderness slowly returns. With a bit of luck, you might see traces of fallow deer and hares, and hear the kingfisher and great spotted woodpecker. Pre-registration is required by Friday at 12:00 PM!
