RangerTour: The Old Dahme – a small, lively river

Many rivers and streams have been constrained in their course by human intervention, their paths dictated. A winding section of the Old Dahme near the village of Briesen has been freeing itself from these restraints for over 25 years. The river shapes new landscape elements, erodes riverbanks, and transports large amounts of sand downstream along its new paths, depositing it elsewhere. Flora and fauna respond positively to this new dynamic. Meanwhile, visitors are presented with new and unusual sights in the already picturesque hilly landscape. From Briesen, the hike leads through forests to the Dahme. Upon arrival, the path follows the stream. From Eichberg, there is a bird's-eye view of a meander in the Dahme. The hike is approximately 5 km long and ends at the starting point. The tour is free of charge. Registration is required by May 28. This tour is offered by the "Ranger and Experience Tours."
