The famous wandering theater "Ton und Kirschen" is making its first appearance in the central outskirts of Brüssow. The origins of most fairy tales date back thousands of years. They have been passed down from generation to generation and are, in all their simplicity, rich in imagination, violence, rough justice, and wonders. Fairy tales are connected to childhood and the personal memories of each one of us. Heinrich Heine recalls this in "Germany. A Winter's Tale." Ton und Kirschen aims to awaken the magic, but also the warnings contained in the fairy tales, through acting, music, dance, puppet and mask play, creating a shared experience with the audience, allowing space for the imagination of each individual viewer. And – what is left unsaid also holds significance. Watch a trailer here.

TON UND KIRSCHEN THEATER
The Ton und Kirschen Theater was founded by Margarete Biereye and David Johnston in May 1992 in Glindow (near Potsdam) after 20 years of theater experience with the English Footsbarn Travelling Theatre. The theater rehearsals take place on a property in the district of Glindow. Here, the stage set is built, and the creation of props, costumes, masks, and puppets is also done. From here, Ton und Kirschen travels with its productions in all directions across the state of Brandenburg and as far as Ireland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland – and repeatedly to France. The currently seven-member ensemble of the theater comes from Germany, England, Wales, France, and Colombia. Under the artistic direction of David Johnston and Margarete Biereye, 26 productions have taken place.
