Kirschgarten EAST - with the group Frankfurter playing for Frankfurt A small village after the reunification, in the Oderbruch. Amidst bananas without queues, beer, and rumors, something begins to brew: Someone shows interest – precisely in the piece of land where Grandma Rothe has lived for decades. But she has no idea yet. While an unemployed man wants to repair the church roof, a mother drags her daughter along, a pregnant woman fights for a school bus, and the pastor may not actually be one, tactics are already being played in the background. Two women know everything, or at least pretend to. A "Mr. von" with a preference for riding boots and high heels encounters two CDU men – one with a plan, the other without. And two self-proclaimed young entrepreneurs with baseball bats are waiting for their moment to strike. A mayor, once a party secretary, is biding his time. The village is on shaky ground. A multi-voiced, bitterly comic chronicle of upheaval – between old certainties, Western promises, and a plot of land that suddenly is worth more than home.
