Guided tour with Erika L. Preiße, former castle director The Tobacco Collegium of Friedrich Wilhelm I, the Prussian "Soldier King," is one of the most notable contributions to courtly sociability in the early decades of the Enlightenment century. Following in the tradition of paternal tobacco societies but in a completely different manner, he organized a contemporary modern communication forum at the castle of Königs Wusterhausen, featuring pipe tobacco and beer, both medicinal and pleasurable substances.
