A woman, a motorcycle, and plenty of stories from the travel log. True to the motto "You never know...", Michaela Münzberg obtained her motorcycle license in her youth and never rode again. Thirty years later, during one of her trips to Nepal, she fell in love with a motorcycle – a Royal Enfield – and learned to ride anew in the chaotic traffic of Kathmandu and on the trails of the surrounding area. On the very first day, Michi had to navigate several critical situations. This gave her the necessary confidence to explore the Kathmandu Valley on her own. Together with a local friend, she crossed the Shivapuri mountain range and visited a village that she had supplied with aid goods after the earthquake through collected donations. The people there were quite astonished, as they had never seen a foreign woman before. After Michi returned from Nepal, she couldn't stop thinking about the motorcycle. The exciting story of this machine, which originated in England and is now produced in India, fascinated her. What had to happen, happened – she ordered a Royal Enfield, personally unpacked it from the shipping container, and named it "LADY." After a few smaller test rides, during which they got used to each other, Michi bought a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad, had the mayor of her hometown Wilthen issue her a greeting message, and set off towards Scandinavia. Her destination was the three Nordic royal houses in Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo. For her, it was less about the crowned heads and more about a photo of her royal "Lady" in front of the royal palace. Along the way, Michi faced many challenges, with the heavy rainfalls being the most taxing. She camped on a golf course, slept in a wooden cabin, and spent the night with a Norwegian family. A special highlight of this tour was exploring the polar research ship "FRAM," which has found its last anchorage in Oslo. The longest and toughest leg of the journey, measuring 992 km, was a nonstop ride from Oslo to Rostock, during which Michi spent the last 9 hours riding at night in pouring rain – of course without rain gear, in jeans and leather shoes. But even that did not discourage her... By now, Michi has traveled to 35 countries with her "Lady." Even though the odometer already shows more than 60,000 kilometers, she still doesn't know exactly where the spark plugs are located or how to tighten the chain. But one thing she knows for sure: "My journey has just begun!" For advance registrations, call 03561 6871 2300 or email bibo@guben.de.
