The Berlin-based singer Bernhard Hansky, celebrated on the grand opera stages of Berlin, Hamburg, and Dresden, opens the doors to two sound worlds on this evening that could hardly be more contrasting – yet mysteriously complement each other. Here is the frivolous Berlin, where behind the glittering facades of the variety theaters, the shadow figures of Heinrich Zille dwell; there is the Budapest of the coffee houses. Between the Spree and the Danube unfolds a musical panorama full of lightness, humor, and subtle melancholy – an evening that does not nostalgically evoke the splendor of past times but allows it to shine anew vibrantly.
