Annemirl Bauer in DAS MINSK

In autumn 2026, DAS MINSK art house in Potsdam will open a comprehensive retrospective dedicated to the complex artistic work of Annemirl Bauer (1939–89) – including paintings, works on paper, collages, and objects. The exhibition showcases a local artist who lived and worked in Berlin and Brandenburg, as well as a critical and independent voice from the GDR that has long been excluded from the artistic canon. Her works are testimonies to her self-understanding as a painter and an uncompromising observer who continuously advocated for social justice and rebelled against the repressions of SED politics. The exhibition is curated by Marie Gerbaulet, with Luisa Bachmann as curatorial assistant. It is being developed in close collaboration with Amrei Bauer, the estate administrator and founder and director of the Annemirl Bauer House in Niederwerbig, Brandenburg.
