RangerTour: Open to Life - Why Biodiversity Needs Light and Warmth

On the Ranger Tour over the Pätzer Plan and to the Gräbendorfer Vineyard, light- and heat-influenced habitats will be presented, which provide ideal living conditions for a variety of plant and insect species. The focus of the Ranger Tour is on specific landscape structures that are essential for flower-visiting insects: sparse, herb-rich dry grasslands with their fallow stages, blooming arable crops, as well as open edge and forest transition areas. It will be explained what characteristics a landscape must possess to protect insects such as wild bees, hoverflies, and butterflies. Furthermore, the Ranger Tour conveys which agricultural and forestry management practices can promote or impair insect biodiversity. The focus here is on solutions aimed at reconciling land use and nature conservation. Look forward to a Ranger Tour that aims to show how land use and the diversity of plant and insect species can interact and serve as the basis for a functioning food web.

Start: 9 AM at the meeting point (to be announced upon registration)
End: approximately 1 PM at the meeting point
Route: The hike will lead, among other places, over the Pätzer Plan and to the Gräbendorfer Vineyard. The Ranger Tour is approximately 10 km long.
Registration: required by Thursday, July 2nd.
