City.Country.Law - The Origins of Luckau Law

Since the 12th century, the Magdeburg Law developed into the most significant European municipal law and found its way into over 1,000 municipal communities – including Luckau. The panel exhibition "City.Country.Law" aims to trace back to the beginnings of this development, which lies in present-day Saxony-Anhalt. The exhibition highlights the particular relevance of the Magdeburg Law and its influences on the formation of urban communities, extending to the shaping of municipal settlement structures. It also exemplarily illuminates urban life, the relationships between cities, and the negotiation of conflicts and legal disputes in the spirit of the Magdeburg Law. Furthermore, general thematic panels clarify significant individual aspects of the history of the Magdeburg Law and urban history from a broader regional perspective.
