Diplomatic Salon - The World as Guest in Eberswalde

The "Diplomatic Salon – The World as a Guest in Eberswalde" is celebrating its 25th edition and is dedicating this event to German-Thai relations. A special guest will be the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Chittipat Tongprasroeth. Diplomatic relations between Germany and Thailand date back to 1862, when the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation was signed between the Kingdoms of Siam and Prussia (on behalf of the German Customs and Trade Union). This treaty laid the foundation for intensive trade and close economic cooperation. Subsequently, German merchants and experts had a significant influence on the Siamese economy and played an important role in the development of Thailand's modern infrastructure. To this day, Germany and Thailand are connected by diverse and deeply rooted bilateral relations. These encompass key areas such as politics, trade, investment, culture, education, environment, and consular affairs. A cornerstone of this partnership is the close exchange between the people of both countries. The event provides an opportunity to experience historical developments and current perspectives of German-Thai relations in a diplomatic and cultural context.
