Body and Soul - Character Work in Improvisational Theater

I am Stefan, and I have been performing with the Improtheater Potsdam ensemble since 2013. I have been giving improv workshops for over 10 years. In my workshop, you will learn how to portray credible, distinctive characters even without professional acting experience. The focus is on the body, emotions, and the inner goals of the characters. We work with proven methods such as Viewpoints, Action Theatre by Ruth Zaporah, physical theatre, and acting training (including techniques from Uta Hagen) – always explained simply and immediately put into practice. What you will learn, among other things: The body leads the character: posture, gait, breath, gaze – from the outside in. Clearly showing emotions: felt, but not exaggerated. Inner goals: what does the character want, how do they assert themselves (or not)? Playing with spaces and routines: “Play, don’t tell” – show instead of explain. Quickly getting to the character: 3–4 anchors that help you start, maintain, and transform characters. Working method: Short warm-ups, clear exercises, lots of practical play in small scenes. You will receive feedback that you can implement immediately. The theory remains concise – the emphasis is on experiencing and experimenting.
