The four female artists focus on Wendish life through painting and drawing. Works from the years 1904 to 2022 connect tradition and the present in an impressive narrative about change and continuity. The depicted Sorbian/Wendish costume is much more than just clothing: it symbolizes identity, pride, and belonging, and continues to thrive today in both traditional and new cultural contexts. Erna Krüger (1883 – 1973) is presented for the first time in Lower Lusatia, while Maja Nagel, Iris Brankatschk, and Hella Stoletzki exemplify the strength and diversity of contemporary Sorbian art. Carla Pohl portrays the artists in expressive color photographs.
