Open Farm Day > The Herb and Nature Farm in January

Dear nature friends, at the end of January, nature presents itself in its winter attire with snow, hoarfrost, and ice, but also as a harbinger of spring, when woodpeckers drum, great tits call, and the first snowdrops break through. Life stirs beneath the ground and in the snow, wild animals leave traces, and birds like the tawny owl and eagle owl begin their courtship, while the first early bloomers like winter aconites and Christmas roses sprout. It is a time of hibernation, but also of hidden new beginnings, often characterized by clear winter nights and the gathering of strength. The trees are still in a sleep-like phase, storing energy in their roots and trunks to sprout in spring. The trees mobilize their reserves, and nutrients are shifted from deep within the tree to the branches to nourish the buds. Our seminar on tree and shrub pruning will take place soon.
