LECTURE & DISCUSSION 60+: Hieroglyphs, Obelisks, and Pyramids, Sphinxes, Gods, and Pharaohs – Potsdam offers a remarkably rich repertoire of buildings and sculptures inspired by ancient Egyptian models. Many of them can be found in the royal residences from the 18th to early 19th centuries. The lecture aims to present these testimonies of Egypt's reception and discuss their templates, artistic implementation, spatial and functional contexts, and the meanings that can be inferred. With Dr. Marc Loth, Egyptologist.
