Guided Minibus Tour to the Resting Places of the Whooper Swans

Already in October and November, the first winter guests arrive in the Niederlausitzer Landrücken Nature Park. Coming from Northern Europe, whooper swans prefer to winter along the coasts, but they also find important refuge areas in the inland of Brandenburg. The European award-winning nature reserve "Luckauer Becken" offers these elegant relatives of ducks ideal conditions for wintering.

Expert Guidance Through the Winter Landscape

As part of a minibus tour, the Heinz Sielmann Nature Experience Center in Wanninchen provides a comprehensive insight into the lifestyle of these animals. A staff member from the center accompanies guests to various observation points and shares interesting information about their favorite foods, courtship behavior, and the specific requirements of whooper swans for their habitat. A central aspect of the tour is disturbance-free observation to avoid impacting the animals' natural behavior.

Equipment and Participation

High-quality binoculars and spotting scopes will be provided for the observations. Participants are also welcome to bring their own technical equipment, such as cameras or scopes. Due to the weather conditions in the open landscape, weather-appropriate clothing as well as sturdy and warm footwear are essential. The tour is aimed at adults and interested children aged 10 and older.
