Taizé services are a special form of communal prayer. They aim for inner reflection. What distinguishes them from other services are primarily the songs from Taizé, an ecumenical community in Cluny, France: they are short and memorable, sung in harmony as much as possible, and often repeated. This is a form of meditation. A short Bible passage is read, followed by a period of silence: time to reflect on the biblical word, a song, or other thoughts or prayers. In the stillness and quiet, we can bring before God what moves us.
