Healthy Kitchen of Nature: Identifying and Tasting Herbs in Wanninchen

Wild herbs can be found not only in cultivated garden beds but are also encountered by enthusiasts almost everywhere in the wild. On Sunday, April 19, a guided walk through the grounds of the Heinz Sielmann Nature Experience Center in Wanninchen offers the opportunity to learn about the diversity of these edible treasures. Under the expert guidance of staff from the Heinz Sielmann Foundation, participants will gain the necessary knowledge for safe and sustainable foraging of wild herbs.

Identification with All Senses
A key component of the hike is the safe recognition and identification of plants. Participants will have the chance to engage with the herbs using all their senses and deepen their knowledge about the specific properties and botanical characteristics of various species.

Joint Processing and Tasting
Following the hike, the practical application of what has been learned will take place. The collected cultivated and wild herbs will be processed together into various dishes. The final tasting of the self-prepared meals will provide an opportunity for discussion about the culinary possibilities of the local flora.
