The heroine in Annett Gröschner's third novel is Hanna Krause, a woman who has experienced two revolutions, two dictatorships, an uprising, two world wars, and two defeats, two democracies, the Kaiser, the Führer, good times and bad, almost the entire abyss of the 20th century. She has given birth to six children, unable to bury two of them, and has supported her sick husband. Hanna was once a florist and later a crane operator in a heavy machinery factory in Magdeburg, where she had a good overview of people's relationships from high above. Hanna takes life as it comes. Only one thing is important to her: to remain decent.
