Fireflies in Focus: Film Presentation and Guided Night Hike On this special evening, nature enthusiasts can look forward to an exclusive combination of cinematic documentation and direct nature experience. In cooperation with the renowned Lusatian nature filmmaker Lennert Piltz, the Heinz Sielmann Nature Experience Center in Wanninchen is dedicated to the fascinating phenomenon of fireflies – first on the screen and then outdoors. From the Cinema Hall to the Görlsdorf Forest The event is divided into two interconnected parts to provide a deep understanding of night ecology: Fascination on the Screen: In the first part, Lennert Piltz presents impressive footage of the glowing insects. The film presentation offers detailed insights into the biology of fireflies, which often remain hidden from the naked eye in the dark. The Nightly Spectacle Live: Following this, participants will embark on a roughly two-kilometer excursion into the adjacent Görlsdorf Forest. Here, what was just seen in the film can be observed in reality. Knowledge Transfer: The nature tour and film contribution complement each other ideally to provide valuable information about the diverse nocturnal fauna and the importance of species protection in the Lower Lusatia Nature Park. This combination offers a rare opportunity to learn about the insect world of Lusatia from both a nature filmmaker's perspective and through personal observation.
