Catholic Church "Holy Cross" and Church Tower

The construction of the Catholic Church, based on plans by architect Engelbert Seibertz, began in 1897. The consecration of the church as the Holy Cross and Queen of the Holy Rosary Church took place in 1899. The name Holy Cross was adopted from the church that was originally located in Grapengießer Gasse. The double name was created at the request of the parish priest, Archpriest Julius Winkler, who had already passed away by the time of the blessing and wanted to name the church the Rosary Church. The glass mosaic above the main portal still points to the Rosary today. Rene Pachmann, university chaplain and engaged citizen of the city, guides visitors through the church and up the church tower.
