Guben Conversations-Church hosts candidate presentation for the mayoral and district council elections 2026.

The "Guben Talks - Church Finds City" invites you to the Friedenskirche Guben on January 27 at 7 PM. Topic: The new year begins just like the last year with an election. Last time it was for the Bundestag, and now it is for the region. But just like before, it is crucial to know who is running. No one wants to buy the proverbial "cat in the bag." Only with the new year will the candidates for the two municipal levels be confirmed. In Guben, the current mayor Fred Mahro is running for re-election, alongside Mr. Steffen Rosenkranz as an independent candidate. In the district, the parties have nominated four candidates. For the AfD, Ms. Christine Beyer, for the CDU, Mr. Martin Heusler, for Die Partei, Mr. Robert Hanschke, and for the SPD, Mr. Heiko Jahn. We citizens have to decide who will represent us in the region starting in 2026. To prepare for the upcoming election, there will be a candidate presentation again. As part of the "Guben Talks - Church Finds City," the Christian churches have organized an event.
