Every year around August 12th, the Earth crosses the orbits of a meteor stream that consists of debris from a comet. When these objects enter the Earth's atmosphere from space, they create a luminous phenomenon known as "shooting stars." For us as observers on the Earth's surface, the origin of all these shooting stars seems to lie in the constellation Perseus, which is where the name Perseids comes from. Learn interesting facts about the world of the cosmos this evening. Please bring snacks, as well as a blanket/cot/folding chair to comfortably observe the shooting stars on the large meadow of the sports field. Remember to dress warmly!
