Musician Museum Expands / Invitation to the Opening on February 18. The Scharwenka Kulturforum e.V. has expanded its museum and now offers a glimpse into the private life of Xaver Scharwenka in a newly arranged section on the upper floor. Visitors will learn more about him as a person and family man. Before entering the salon-like room, several pieces from the private collection of the Scharwenka family can be seen in the adjoining area, such as his desk with lamp and a display case. This display case holds the personal, updated sheet music of X. Scharwenka and the scores for his only opera "Mataswintha." The small exhibition is complemented by silver items from the family as well as family photos. In the alcove, visitors can take a seat in two cozy armchairs and listen to an audio library of letters from Xaver Scharwenka to his adult daughters, read by his great-nephew Wolfgang Scharwenka. In these very personal letters, he talks about the construction of the house in Bad Saarow and the creation of the garden. Visitors will get to know Xaver Scharwenka as a loving family man and learn how deeply he was rooted in the romantic imperial era. This is expressed in his flowery, dreamy language and the childlike address he used for his daughters, who were already adult women at the time. There will also be a feature set to Scharwenka's music about the rescue of the house from decay and its reconstruction, as well as the preservation of his legacy. In addition to Wolfgang Scharwenka, members of the Lübeck Scharwenka Society will also participate in the opening of the new exhibition section.
