Castle opening during the winter holidays

Actually, Rochlitz Castle is closed in winter. However, an exception is made during the winter holidays. Around the theme "When Wishes Still Came True," there will be various fairy-tale offerings throughout the castle. At the museum ticket office, there will be a riddle sheet available for all interested visitors. Those who find the solution can look forward to a small sweet surprise at the end. In the banquet hall, the groomed and saddled castle horses will be ready for a small knight tournament. Baina Graftu, alias tour guide Toni Kästner, will share many interesting, amusing, and informative stories about life as a knight and about Rochlitz Castle. To feel like a real knight or princess, young visitors can try on knight armor and various dresses and costumes. Furthermore, everyone can prove their skills with a lance in a virtual tournament battle. Museum admission: Adults 8 euros, children (6 - 16 years) one euro. Tip: To get into the Carnival spirit, every child who comes to the castle dressed as a fairy-tale character on February 14 or 15, 2026, will receive free admission. Of course, little robbers, princesses, or knights cannot come alone, so for each dressed-up child, one accompanying adult pays only the reduced admission fee.
