Today, the special exhibition "Paint and Ink" by Per Vilt opens. CONTENT Per Vilt is a chosen name – a constructed identity through which the artist explores questions of authorship, beauty, and the evolving language of representation. Active between Berlin and Brandenburg, Per Vilt develops a practice that combines digital experiments with the discipline of traditional painting. Educated in Canada, the artist pursues a deep fascination with European portrait traditions and reinterprets them for a time when both image and identity have become increasingly fluid. The portraits in Paint and Ink are based on AI-generated figures – imagined young people whose tattooed and pierced bodies embody the aesthetics of the present. By consciously translating these digital inventions into painting, Vilt creates a tension between permanence and transience, between the human hand and the algorithmic gaze. Color represents history, mastery, and the slow, physical act of creation; ink symbolizes immediacy, the self-inscribed body, and the mutable nature of identity. Together, they form a meditation on how beauty, authenticity, and individuality are constructed and perceived in the digital age. In Paint and Ink, Per Vilt transforms artificially generated images into human presence and invites viewers to question what remains real when both art and the self are reimagined through technology. Exhibition period: January 23 – March 22, 2026.
